FUN!

That was what the Blue Man Group How to Be a Megastar Tour 2.0 was!

A concoction of beautiful color, bodacious music, movement, and light. Drums, strings, airpoles and tubes created phenomenal sound with a rockin backup band and vocals that did justice to their original songs as well as the covers.

If you ever have a chance to go see them, do. It was a happy place to be!

Manic Monday Chip

Chip is the word for today's manic monday. To see all Manic Monday participants visit It's" a Blog Eat Blog World .

Yesterday we had a post St. Patrick's day dinner party. Corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, shepards pie, irish soda bread, etc. The house smelled of Irish goodness.

But to start us off I made a non Irish buffalo chicken wing dip.
and served it with tortilla chips.

Recipe is below.
If you've never had it, try it.
It will soon become a favorite.

4 boneless chicken breasts, pre cooked and shredded
1 cup ranch dressing
1 12 oz container cream cheese
1 cup Hot Sauce (I use Franks)
8 oz shredded cheddar or taco cheese

Mix all ingredients together and microwave for 7 minutes on high or bake in 350 oven until hot and bubbly.

Serve with celery sticks or tortilla chips.

The wolfhound is the official dog of Ireland. It is the largest of all dogs and can be up to six foot four when standing on its hind legs.

Famous wit Oscar Wilde was born Oscar Fingal O’Flahertie Wills Wilde in Dublin in 1854.

A single day of good weather that pops up in a long stretch of bad days is known in Ireland as a "pet day."

The longest named place in Ireland is Muckanaghederdauhaulia, in County Galway.

One of the most popular radio shows in rural Ireland is still the weekly broadcast of local obituaries.

and for those of you who would like to be a little more Irish tomorrow, you can learn to say:

Kiss me, I'm Irish!
Is Éireannach mé, ‘dom póg!
[Is Air- an- ack may, do pogue]

Two for Tuesday

Two aeriel photographers I really like.

Ian Coristine does wonderful photography of one of my favorite places in the world, The 1000 Islands. He first experienced The 1000 Islands in a float plane in 1992 and has built a library of 20,000 photos of the region. I especially like how you can visit the different "neighborhoods" on his website. Camp Ryan is in the Chippewa Bay neighborhood.

Factoid:
To officially be counted an island in the region it must be above water 365 days a year and must be home to at least two living trees. There are actually 1865 islands in the region.

Yann Arthus-Bertrand

Earth from Above

Yann Arthus-Bertrand created an exhibition with a collection of 100,000 photographs taken in 76 countries which make up his Earth from the Air exhibit. Some of these have been published in his book Earth from Above His photographs and essays invite everyone to reflect on the evolution of the planet and on the future of its inhabitants.

Manic Monday Click

Click is the word for today's manic monday. Go visit Mo over at It's a Blog Eat Blog World to see the Manic Monday participants.

One click of a mouse burns 0.0000024kcals of energy, so if you eat a chocolate bar you'll need to click your mouse 765,551,000 times to burn it off.

Woo Hoo, a new exercise!

Wait.
It took me 152 clicks to create this post.
Survey says average mouse clicks per day range from 1500 - 2300. (per 2 hour usage)
I'll be dead way before I can burn a candy bar off.

this is the candy bar I'd click for.
what's yours?

If and If and If and If

It's that time of year again.
Where we wait with bated breath to see how SU will fare in the Big East Tournament.
IF SU wins against UConn today, they are guaranteed a bid in the NCAA Championship. (They would most likely make it anyway, but a win today would seal the deal)
IF SU wins against UConn today, they will play again tomorrow afternoon.
IF SU wins tomorrow afternoon, they will play Friday night.
IF SU plays on Friday night then I will be heading to NYC to watch the game. (and stay in a lovely hotel, and shop, and have a very fun weekend in the city)

Could we have a win please?!

Manic Monday Blow

Blow is the word for today from Mo at It's a Blog Eat Blog World.

I tried my hand (er, mouth) at glass blowing 2 summers ago at the Corning Museum of Glass.

Glassblowing is the process of forming glass into useful shapes while the glass is in a molten, semi-liquid state. A person who blows glass is called a glassblower, glasssmith, or gaffer.

You attach your mouth to the other end of this rod and blow.
HARD.

and the finished glass blown vase......

The Corning Museum of Glass is nestled in the Fingerlakes wine country, the scenery is beautiful and there are some exellent wineries to visit should you ever have a chance to head that way.

Ahhhhhhh-Choo!

I have been sneezing since I woke up this morning.
Or, worse yet, been on the verge of a sneeze.
You know, the annoying tickle starts in your nose, then your face scrunches up, aaaahhhh......... nothing.
No sneeze.
Not even a little wimpy one.

I hate that.

Some cultures have considered sneezing as a sign of good fortune whereas others have seen it as an omen of death. The saying "God Bless You" is thought to have arisen during the Bubonic Plague of the 6th century, where sneezing was one of its early symptoms.

"Sun sneezing (Photic sneezing)" often runs in families, and occurs in around one in four people. (I did this today, about 50 gazillion times on the way to work, driving into the sun.)

The world record for sneezing is held by Donna Griffiths from Worstershire in the UK, who sneezed for 978 days in a row, stopping on 16 September 1983 (Guiness world records)just shoot me now.

By the way, your heart doesn't stop, nor does your soul get expelled, nor will your eyes pop out if you try to keep them open, when you sneeze.
