Grrrrrls Island Getaway

Bonfire on Rita Rock

Mimosa or Coffee?
Both, of course.

"We cannot tell the precise moment when friendship is formed. As in filling a vessel drop by drop, there is at last a drop which makes it run over; so in a series of kindnesses there is at last one which makes the heart run over."
-- Samuel Johnson

It was the first fun filled grrrrrls weekend on Mink Island.
No men allowed at camp (even Bailey the dog had to stay home).

Lisa,
I am so proud to be your friend and "family." Your blog is so great and it does such a wonderful job expressing the you that we all love. I feel like I went on vacation again on the island just visiting your blog. Actually, I can feel another hangover coming on.

Thanks for posting the photos, and sharing your piece of heaven with us.

Love,
Karen

Lisa,

Wow. Thank you so much for a weekend filled with the laughter, camaraderie and unabashed honesty of friends who are simply themselves. You all are such special women, and I am so, SO lucky to know you.

I was looking for a special quote to stick in here and I happened upon something even sweeter: "A landmark UCLA study suggests friendships between women are special. They shape who we are and who we are yet to be. They soothe our tumultuous inner world, fill the emotional gaps in our marriage, and help us remember who we really are. By the way, they may do even more..." [Here's the study.]

Long story short, the study implies that women outlive men because we form good friendships with each other.

So thank you for extending my lifespan. I came home refreshed and renewed, and I'm still laughing.

And Jen, I can't remember who he was either, but you liked him until he took them out. (Bzzzzzzz!)

Love to you all and special thanks to Lisa,
Vanessa

Girlfriends -
I feel the love. It was FUN. Thank you all for the great company and laughter.

Karen - hangover? did you drink?
black mail videos are in the vault. :-)can't wait until your birthday. bzzzzzzzzzz.

Jen - he was older, and he liked you.
you never did give us a name.
the slush was delish but definitely needed more vodka. kick things up a notch!

Tammy - I am glad you are making good use of the wine glass. I think I actually saw the tension leave your body Friday evening. Right around the time Jackie lit the lemons with the tiki torch - filled with kerosene - inside the camp. uh huh

Barb - what did your wine glass say again? alws do fra yo? kinda like the sey bi tattoo. hugs to MH for the mimosas.

Vanessa - what a great study you found. I don't have to see statistics to know that it's true. give me a stressful day and girlfriends always make it better. add a body of water to the mix and all stress disappears. :-)

PS anyone been to the fabric store lately?

I was at Joann's this weekend. The usual snide crowd wasn't there. Personally, I think they were at a Joann's Grrrls Getaway, making quilted purses and smocks.

Snots.
