Chia Pets, A Healthy Snack!

Next time you get a chia pet, don't grow it, eat it!

Chia seeds are loaded with omega-3 fatty acids (that protect against heart disease), fiber, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, manganese, copper, niacin, and zinc. Better than flaxseeds, they store longer and are easier to digest. Sprinkle on cereal, yogurt, salads or eat them by the handful. To order the seeds (without the pet) go to chia seeds.

Can you eat what sprouts on your Chia Pet? That sounds worse than intended!

yes, you can eat the sprouts but it is the seeds that are best for you.
