Two for Tuesday -Sunflowers

Sunday we drove Ryan child #2 (David) to college.
On the way, we spotted gorgeous fields of yellow from the Thruway.
On the return trip we took a detour so we could get a look, up close and personal.
We've seen fields of corn and fields of wheat but never fields of sunflowers.

How long of a drive did you have?

R,
He is going to school in Rochester. Not too far! :-)
Two more years and we'll have one out of grad school and 3 in college. We'll be empty nesters but broke!
Hi Julie,
They were so beautiful to see. There were 3 fields side by side. He is about 90 mins away.

Are they sunflowers if they are red? I ask because our receptionist has a vase full of huge red flowers that look just like sunflowers.

Hmmmm...perhaps I must google.

Thanks Kate, they are gorgeous aren't they? and thanks for the well wishes for David.

Travis, you're baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack! Yay! Hope you had a nice break. I've taken an unannounced one myself this week cause life has been so crazy. Nice to see you again :-)

oh and red sunflowers? I don't know. I've never seen them or heard of them. But let me know if you find out.

Travis....I'll bet they were some type of zinnia.
