It's a known secret we love our oxymorons.

I do not believe pretty ugly fits in the oxy moron category as pretty is expressing the amount of ugly, like a little ugly, very ugly, pretty ugly. It is not so much a description of the ugly as same is describing the difference.
they are still two contradicting words. it fits the definition, it stays on the list.
(although we could probably argue other oxymorons the same way)
and then there are those tongue in cheek oxymorons:
